InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)

If you’re thinking of hosting an event or key function at an IGH property, read this first.

  • We were due to host our IFF2006 Forum at the InterContinental Hotel Vienna.
  • We had a signed contract and paid all the deposits.
  • At the eleventh hour they tore up our contract and sold the space to another party.
  • They offered two alternative venues, neither of which were suitable or met our specification.
  • As a result we had to cancel the Forum, it being too late to try to find an alternative venue.
  • They have fully admitted liability yet flatly refuse to compensate us for our losses.  Their excuse?
  • 'It's your fault because you refused to accept the alternatives we offered.'  So determined Ms Jennifer Fox, IHG Chief Operating Officer, a response condoned by Mr David Webster, IHG Group Chairman and Mr Charles Glanville, IHG Senior Corporate Counsel, despite the fact the alternatives offered (a) did not meet our requirements and (b) were not fit for our purpose.

From the Chairman down, after two years of filibustering, IHG have categorically refused to accept responsibility for their premeditated and deliberate breach of contract.

Make your own judgement.  We will never again consider hosting an event with IHG.

Caveat Emptor… there are more reliable and professional alternatives.
